Spring is just around the corner, time to start thinking about your Summer 2010 wardrobe. One of the most important parts of a summer wardrobe- skin! Warm weather attire mixes flesh with fashion to show off that body you’ve been working on all winter long. Designers seem to be toning down the usual bold colors of summer with mostly muted tones strutting down the runways. You’ll see accents of color here and there with a colorful tie, belt or accessory. YOCISCO.com has compiled some of the hottest looks for Spring 2010 from D&G, Lacoste, DSquared, Emporio Armani, Louis Vuitton and my favorite Michael Bastian.
There are very few fashion lines that you can literally take what is being worn on the runway and apply it to every day life. Michael Bastian is one of those designers. I recently discovered his line and it absolutely blew me away! If I could design my own line, this is what it would look like. His looks are practical for every day life but stylish enough to bring high fashion to the streets without looking ridiculous. He uses cuts and colors that are flattering and masculine but still edgy and urban. This spring’s line draws from seemingly Latino influences to create a look any man- gay or straight would be proud to wear.

As I approached the enormous luxury liner sitting at the dock in Galveston, Texas, I knew I was in for an amazing week. Little did I know the entertainment on board was going to be just as big as the ship we were about to board. Diva’s Cruise 2009 officially got underway on October 24, sailed throughout the Western Caribbean with stops in Jamaica, Caman Islands and Cozumel. On board were some of the best drag entertainers you will find this side of the equator. On board and just as
glamorous as the fine dining and beautiful ocean views were- the legendary Erica Andrews, Derrick Barry, Lana Blake, Jade & Angina (Ru Paul’s Drag Race), SoFonda Saint James and of course ya boy Cisco(not one of the drag performers).

After boarding the ship, we were assigned our room; a spacious cabin with amazing ocean views that would rival any Hilton or Marriot. On the living room coffee table was a plate of cheesecakes with a “welcome aboard” note. I knew right away we were going to be pampered all week! The best thing is the attention to detail that you come to expect on a luxury liner. The bed is always turned down before you retire to your room at night; the food is gourmet and available 24 hours a day including room service!
The days at sea were amazing and the ship’s amenities catered to everyone’s tastes. You know I was in the weight room daily as well as the spa which offered world class facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, steam rooms and saunas and even teeth whitening! The
ship boasted two large swimming pools which the Diva’s Cruise guests utilized daily to sun worship and show off their super hot swim suits.
At night there were plenty of events, mixers, fashion shows and drag shows presented by the Diva’s Cruise promoters to help the guests mingle and get to know each other. Usually we would end up at the discoteca, dancing and drinking until the sun came up. Halloween was off the hook as everyone rocked their hottest costumes and celebrated as the ship sailed under a pale moon and bright stars.
The best part of the cruise was all the great people I met and got to know. I made friends that I still keep in touch with and will hopefully see next year on the Divas Cruise 2010 which docks out of Miami with stops in Panama and Costa Rica. Go to PrideCruise.net to book for 2010.
As many of you know, I am a huge Gaga fan. She is debatably one of the most talented entertainers of our time. She has also spoken out for the gay community more aggressively than any other main stream artist to date. She speaks of creating a safe place for those of us who grew up feeling like “freaks” (which is almost anyone who grew up a closeted gay person). She affectionately refers to her fans as her “Little Monsters” and is constantly dedicated to them and allowing them to be who they are. For this reason, I will have a new section on YOCISCO.com, exclusively dedicated to our beloved Gaga, her projects, fashion, ideas and music. I urge everyone to support such an artist that speaks to the very core of who we are as a gay community. She is the voice that is leading us into a new decade of acceptance, love, pride, music and art. LONG LIVE GAGA!!!!!!
Telephone
Lady GaGa follows up with her much-anticipated duet with Beyonce in the recent video to "Telephone". The song has been a major hit. However, since Lady GaGa seemed as the underdog in Beyonce's "Video Phone" video, onlookers were looking to see if she would reign in this video or if Beyonce would overshadow her again.
Well, GaGa definitely held her own in the video. She brings her weird, yet eerily entertaining vibe to the set and challenges Beyonce to act a little on the weird side as well. The vocals were phenomenal, the costumes were vibrant and as psychedelic as GaGa has always presented herself, and the story was just as tragic as all GaGa videos. Tyrese Gibson is the endangered male interest in the much anticipated video.
Another thing to look for, when GaGa leaves off the accentuated make-up, she makes a close double for the legendary Madonna.
Watch the video and judge for yourself.

Gaga Underground
If you are anything like me, you’ve already played out every last one of Gaga’s new tracks. I've come to the conclusion that her music is so good, I end up playing it repeatedly, leaving me hungry for new Gaga music. A simple search on the internet has turned up some of her unreleased songs that will probably make it on her upcoming album. Here are some of her unreleased jams. Click on the title to listen:
Cisco's Bad Romace
My boy Richard recently captured me in Sacramento losing my marbles on the gogo box when Bad Romance came on. I dont know what it is about Gaga and this song but when the club speakers start booming, "Rah Rah ah ah ah" I can't control myself. No matter how many times I hear this song I cant help but work it out!

Lady Gaga and Cindy Lauper- the new faces of M.A.C.
The cosmetic powerhouse, M.A.C. will feature Lady Gaga and Cindy Lauper as their newest faces for the Spring 2010, "Viva Glam" promotion. The burlesque-styled campaign is titled, "From our Lips" and features the two iconic pop stars.
Gaga and Lauper will each have their own lip color, the Viva Glam Gaga (a Cool-Blue-Pink) and Viva Glam Cindy (a Burnt-Coral-Red). Proceeds from the sales of all Viva Glam products go to benefit AIDS research. This promises to be one of M.A.C.'s best campaigns to date.
Barbie goes Gaga!
It was only a matter of time before the fashion icon, Barbie, began to imitate the high fashion likes of the legendary Lady Gaga. Although these dolls are not officially manufactured by Mattel, they are making a big splash in cyberspace with Gaga fans world wide. The creator, only identified as Veik11 on his Flicker account, has created a line of custom dolls that meticulously duplicate some of Gaga’s most famous looks. You won’t find these dolls on the shelf at Toys R Us. They are not even for sale but Mattel would be wise to cash in on Gaga’s iconic style and popularity. Until then, we will only be able to admire these amazing creations from our computer screens.

Get Abs Like Cisco
Summer is over and you didn’t quite meet your fitness goals this year. There is no time like the present to get started on your body for next year. A winter of hibernating and hard work will have you re-emerging as a hard body for Summer 2010.
I get countless emails from YOCISCO.com viewers asking me what exercise routines I follow and what do I eat to look the way I do. I’m always willing to share fitness advice but thought it would be best to bring in an expert. I’ve enlisted the help of one of the top fitness trainers in Denver. She is certified and has her Bachelor’s Degree in Fitness Science- in short, the girl knows here stuff.
We have put together the first in a series of videos designed to have you looking beach ready by next year, that is of course, if you stick to the routine. Our first video focuses on the abs and core. This is typically the most troubled area for men. These exercises can be done at home with minimal equipment. My best advice is to stick to this routine at least three times a week, daily would be ideal. Do it while you’re watching TV or just hanging out at home.
To compliment the video, I have posted some helpful articles about healthy eating and metabolism. Ab exercises alone won’t get you that six pack. Proper cardio and nutrition will speed up your ab sculpting process. I would suggest:
- Swearing off soda completely
- Eating smart when it comes to fast food
- Consume fresh fruits and veggies daily
- Watch your intake of sugar, processed foods (most foods that come in a box and sit on the shelf) and refined flour
- Eat lean meats such as fish and white meat chicken breasts
- Drink plenty of water daily
- Try to do activities that keep your hear rate up for at least 15 minutes (swimming, basketball, treadmill, jogging, soccer), three times a week.
- Limit your alcohol intake
All in all, make health a lifestyle. With healthcare as expensive as it is, it’s wise to invest in yourself and your health as preventative care. Not only will you save on healthcare costs, you’ll look and feel damn good too. I know it’s tough at first but once you’re on track, you will love the way you feel as well as the results in the way you look.

The latest addition to the Cisco’s Boyz family is my good friend and fellow Club Papi dancer, Omar. He is one of L.A.’s top go go dancers and a Club Papi favorite. His beefy frame, cinnamon-colored skin and rugged facial features have club goers filling his shorts with wads of cash every time he jumps up on the go go box. Omar is the type of dancer that not only looks sexy, he entertains and puts on a show. This boy knows how to move it. His popularity in the last two years has landed him as the cover model for Club Papi’s Folsom Street Fair event this September. As you’ll see from our gallery of smoking hot pics, Omar uses his amazing body and good looks to draw you in and make you want a taste.
Off the go go box, Omar is a really sweet guy. Having worked with him at many events, he is always friendly, never stuck up and always welcoming with a big hug. The guy is a rare catch and he’s single to boot! He says he is still waiting for Mr. Right. Omar comes from a large, tight-knit family, which he is most proud of and says he enjoys the Club Papi scene because of the many friends he has met along the way and the cities it takes him to. If you love yourself a Latin papi, you’ll love Omar’s photo set, another smokin Cisco’s Boyz model on YOCISCO.com- Enjoy!

I came back from San Francisco Gay Pride with a nice shiner- yup a black eye
From my Twitter comments many of you were wondering what the hell happened. Well, lemme tell ya how it all went down….
After a long day of rocking the Latin stage, posing for pictures and working the Latinboyz.com booth, me and a handful of friends decided to head to the Castro district for a little post-pride celebrating. The Castro, of course, was packed with people doing the same thing as we were. The scene was almost chaotic. Traffic bumper to bumper, streets crowded with rowdy, drunk pride-goers- mostly just having fun.

Recent comments on my Youtube videos got me thinking. One viewer wrote that my image is deceiving and because I came off as “feminine” in one of my videos. He felt so strongly that he stated he could no longer visit YOCISCO.com. Aside from that, I have received countless comments knocking me and the Club Papi boys for acting- “Too Gay.”
First off, I have yet to meet a gay man with absolutely no feminine characteristics/mannerisms. Even the most masculine of gay men have a little sugar in their tank. They may not always show it but it comes out. Weather it be when relaxed and chillin with friends or after a few drinks….a feminine characteristic is bound to surface. No, that doesn’t mean we are women or want to be women, it just means we are who we are.
The interesting thing about gay men is t
hat we represent every end of the spectrum- from ultra-masculine body builders and foot ball players to lip gloss-wearing J-setters to full on drag queens- and everything in between. Regardless of our degree of “gayness” we all do the same thing in the bedroom. After all, that’s what makes us, well, gay.
So why do we look down on a gay man that acts feminine? Most of us have made the comment (myself included), “he is such a queen.” Could it come from our own self-hatred, something that has been pounded into our heads since we were children? Maybe it’s a bigoted view embedded in our souls from a male-dominated heterosexual society. The same attitude that doesn’t allow us to marry the one we love. This is the same attitude that refuses to protect us from prejudice in the work place. The same prejudice and hatred that murdered Lawrence King and countless other victims of gay hate crimes.
"Be who you are and don't appologize for it, even to those in our own community"
That also got me thinking, why are we so afraid of our own femininity? What actually is “straight-acting?” As if gay men are any less men than straight men that we have to be “straight-acting” in order to be valued by
our peers. Some of us are just naturally masculine, after all we are men. Some of us are naturally feminine. Most of us are in the middle, drawing from both sides, making us who we are.
Our recent YOCISCO.com poll asked the readers, “What type of men do you prefer?” The choice of a feminine acting man got just 1% of the total votes. Growing up gay, we have a trained and deep rooted self hatred. If we don’t accept our feminine-acting community, how can we expect society as a whole to accept us as a whole?
All in all, I don’t claim to be the most masculine guy in the world, neither am I on the extremely feminine end either. I guess I’m somewhere in the middle. What does it matter anyway? Be who you are and don’t apologize for it, even to people in your own community. It’s been a long road out of the closet and I’m proud of the point I’m at when it comes to my sexuality. Life is too short to be someone else. Be you.
"I want to be a top go go dancer"
Dear Cisco,
Yo, what’s good, Cisco? How you doin my name is Rico. I’m 18 and I’m from da Bronx New York. I wanted to let u know I’m a huge fan of yours n I got some questions for you. I love your Abs l0l and I’ve been doing your exercises for a week and a half now. About how many days a week should I do your routine? I know you said 3 times a week but I want to see results quick. I am a Vegen however. I eat fish but not like real meat n I don’t drink or smoke. Could I still get muscle and abs like yours in the near future? I do hope to be a top go go dancer like you and meet you someday. You have inspired me to do this type of work.

New Years Eve 2010
This year, San Francisco was the place to be as Club Papi rang in the new year at Space 550. This was probably one of the best new years I've ever had! I had a special someone standing right at my box to give me a new years kiss as the balloons and confetti dropped. Just when it couldn't get any better, right after the drop, the DJ played Bad Romance! You know I lost my marbles! It was good to be back at Club Papi since I've been away for a couple months. If new years ever was any indication of the upcoming year, I think its gonna be an amazing 2010!

Am I Addicted to Sex?
When managed in a healthy way, an active sex life can be one of life’s greatest gifts. Having been raised in an oppressive society about our homosexuality, sex can take on different meanings for gay men. Whether or not you believe the stereotype of gay men being promiscuous and “sex-starved”, the real truth is that when sex is taken to the extreme and it begins to interfere with your life and the accomplishment of your goals, damaging consequences can result that can destroy your future.

The Club Papi Kat DeLuna Gay Club Tour
The gay Latino community has a new friend in Kat DeLuna. Finishing up her 9 city gay club tour with Club Papi, Kat has proven to be a true ally of the gay community. Her tour began in San Francisco and went on to Miami, Dallas, Chicago, San Diego, Los Angeles, Puerto Vallarta and Atlanta. Your boy Cisco was along for the ride and let me tell you, Kat knows how to put on a show. This isn’t her first appearance with Club Papi however. She appeared at San Francisco’s gay pride 2008 and made a few random club appearances but has never embarked on such a busy schedule with Club Papi. Kat really wanted to reach out to her gay audience and give the gay community the love and respect they deserve. Being a Latina, Club Papi was a perf
ect fit.
After each performance, she happily signed autographs and posed for pictures. Seems Kat learned a thing or two about gay culture, stating she now understands what “tops” and “bottoms” are. She was even spotted rockin the American Apparel sweatshirt that reads, “Legalize Gay.” Way to go Kat!
Her show included her number one hit, “Whine up” as well as “Run the Show,” “Unstoppable,” featuring Lil Wayne and a special remix of Akon’s, “Na Na Na.”
She performed a few
other songs including her latest joint, “Calling you.” Both “Unstoppable” and “Calling You” can be found on the Confessions of a Shopaholic Soundtrack.
Kat has really grown as a performer since last year’s Club Papi’s events. Her show is much more polished, incorporating two amazing back up dancers, hotter outfits, bigger hair, higher heels and a bundle of pumping energy that is undeniably Kat DeLuna. She has definitely stepped up her game and the Club Papi crowd ate it up! Kat has no where to go from here but up! It is invaluable to have mainstream artists like her that show love and support for the gay community. We wish you the best of luck in your career and consider you a true friend of the community! Stay unstoppable, Ma!

To Have Sex or Not To Have Sex, That is the Question
If you’re looking for the perfect music to set your Valentine’s Day off and get your boy in the mood, Ryan Leslie has got something for you. His self-title debut album is available in stores and for download on February 10th, just in time for V-day! For those of you not familiar with Ryan Leslie, he has had years in the music industry as a producer and song writer working closely with Bad Boy artist, Cassie. He produced Cassie’s debut song and chart topper, “Me and You” and has produced and written for artists like Usher, Beyonce, Diddy, JoJo, Brittany Spears- just to name a few. Ryan’s album contains 12 tracks of smooth, sexy R&B that is sure to set off a romantic evening in the sheets. This is one album you can let play from beginning to end without interrupting your groove. The song, “Valentine” is a sexy, smooth tribute to
the upcoming holiday. “Gibberish” is track, sung in unrecognizable, well, gibberish in the T-Pain electric vocal tradition but no less sexy. The track, “Addiction” features the sexy and talented, Cassie singing the hook.
These are just a few of my favorites. I’ve always been one to make love with the lights on and the music playing softly to set the pace and the mood. Although I’ll be out on the road for Valentine’s Day, you can bet this is what will be playing on my stereo next time I’m getting busy. Want to take a listen before you buy? Click here to preview the album on Ryan Leslie’s Myspace page. Guaranteed it will set your Valentine’s Day off. Remember you heard it from Cisco and SHHHH, don’t tell your man. We’ll let him think it was your idea.

Boost Your Mood with Exercise
Many experts now believe that regular exercise can help prevent and even "treat" depression.
There may be a number of reasons for this:
(1) Exercise can enhance production of "mood-elevating" brain chemicals such as serotonin and endorphins.
(2) Sticking to an exercise plan - and seeing positive results - can give us a sense of accomplishment.
(3) Exercise can be a social experience that helps counter feelings of isolation. Group exercise classes, working out with a friend or taking lessons in a sport (e.g., tennis, skiing) can offer emotional as well as physical rewards.

Rainbow Racism- Race Relations in the LGBT Community, Obama
Coming Soon on YOCISCO.com
The rainbow flag is undoubtedly the universal symbol for the gay community, a symbol that reminds us that gay people originate from every culture, race and walk of life around the world; however, some of us within the community have forgotten that meaning. African-Americans as well as gay African-Americans have become the scapegoat due to the passage of Proposition 8, which banned gay marriage in California. Some gay Blacks have reported being threatened and even harassed by their fellow gay counterparts. There have even been alleged reports that gay blacks were being called the “N” word by gay whites at the recent protests in West Hollywood. There should be no tolerance for such behavior; however, there is a growing sentiment within the gay community that blames the black community for taking away gay rights. Is this a valid claim by LGBT individuals or does this expose the issue of racism already entrenched within the gay community?

Experiences of racism from the gay Asian point of view.

The gay community has one the of the most diverse population. Ranging from Caucasians to Asians, African Americans to Latinos, and Christians to Atheist. It has every category imaginable under the sun, all of them sharing a common thread. In addition, with all the prejudice that homosexuals face in society, you would think that this group would be one of the most open minded. Unfortunately this is not the case. The gay community still suffers from one of the oldest forms of discrimination; racism.

The following comments were taken from Allhiphop.com, a straight Hip Hop oriented website. Allhiphop.com recently posted an article about gay rappers and the comments below were posted by numerous Allhiphop.com readers. The purpose of posting these comments is to show the attitudes GLBT Blacks and Latinos are up against in our own communities. All straight communities have their hang ups but minority communities especially have some terribly tragic views when it comes to homosexuality. These comments are exactly the reason the GLBT community needs to unify all races under one common ground and also reach out to GLBT communities of color. Warning: These comments are graphic and insulting. They are being posted to remind us of our need to unify, educate and reach out to all communities.

Send in the Troops- A call to action editorial submitted by YOCISCO.com viewer, Mike Singleton
African-Americans have been demonized in Nixon's "war against crime" speeches, Reagan's contemptuous "welfare queens" propaganda, and George H. Bush's "Willy Horton parolee" fear mongering. George W. Bush added a new spin to the southern strategy, by welcoming gay people to the wedge with the "sanctity of marriage" theme. It got him re-elected.
Barack Obama held these wedge themes up to the sunlight of truth, and called for America to unite as one people. Yet in the GBLT community continues publishing magazines that do not celebrate the diversity of the gay experience. The very lovely communities of West Hollywood and Chelsea, emphasize racial similarities in their non-inclusive bars, restaurants, and businesses. On Pride Day, many march down streets with a rainbow flag, a symbol that has never reflected the reality of our community.

Famous Quote:
"In this great gay mecca, I was an invisible man, still. I had no shadow, no substance. No history, no place. No reflection."
I have always known since becoming more involved in LGBT issues that there was an underlying racism and elitism existing within LGBT activism and the community itself. I say this because I'm born and raised in Atlanta, GA which is within the traditional Rural South of the USA (The Good Ole Confederate states), and based on the images and presentation shown in the Media about LGBT life, which is mostly European-Caucasian based images

Dates and info

Better Ab Crunches with Less Strain
Crunches may be the most effective abdominal-toning exercises if they're executed with proper form. When crunches are done incorrectly, the abs don't get the workout they could. Even worse, the neck and back can be strained in the process. The key to good crunching is to let your abs do the work, and not some of the other body parts that seem to want to get involved.
Next time you crunch, focus on keeping these areas still:
(1) HEAD AND NECK. To avoid bending your neck forward as you lift yourself up, pretend there's a grapefruit between your chin and upper chest.
(2) ELBOWS. If you're doing crunches with your hands behind your head, keep your elbows pointed outward throughout each crunch.
(3) LOWER BACK. Keep your lower back pressed against the floor.

Harvey Milk- Gay Rights Past, Present, Future
YOCISCO.com MUST READ-
Newsweek "The Religous Case for Gay Marriage"-Lisa Miller
Let's try for a minute to take the religious conservatives at their word and define marriage as the Bible does. Shall we look to Abraham, the great patriarch, who slept with his servant when he discovered his beloved wife Sarah was infertile? Or to Jacob, who fathered children with four different women (two sisters and their servants)? Abraham, Jacob, David, Solomon and the kings of Judah and Israel—all these fathers and heroes were polygamists. The New Testament model of marriage is hardly better. Jesus himself was single and preached an indifference to earthly attachments—especially family. The apostle Paul (also single) regarded marriage as an act of last resort for those unable to contain their animal lust. "It is better to marry than to burn with passion," says the apostle, in one of the most lukewarm endorsements of a treasured institution ever uttered. Would any contemporary heterosexual married couple—who likely woke up on their wedding day harboring some optimistic and newfangled ideas about gender equality and romantic love—turn to the Bible as a how-to script?
Of course not, yet the religious opponents of gay marriage would have it be so.
The battle over gay marriage has been waged for more than a decade, but within the last six months—since California legalized gay marriage and then, with a ballot initiative in November, amended its Constitution to prohibit it—the debate has grown into a full-scale war, with religious-rhetoric slinging to match. Not since 1860, when the country's pulpits were full of preachers pronouncing on slavery, pro and con, has one of our basic social (and economic) institutions been so subject to biblical scrutiny. But whereas in the Civil War the traditionalists had their James Henley Thornwell—and the advocates for change, their Henry Ward Beecher—this time the sides are unevenly matched. All the religious rhetoric, it seems, has been on the side of the gay-marriage opponents, who use Scripture as the foundation for their objections.

The movie, “Milk,” released last month is a must see for every American who enjoys the privileges and rights of citizenship in this country. I recently saw the movie at the only Denver theatre showing the film. Although it stars "A" list Hollywood actor, Sean Penn as Harvey Milk, the film is primarily showing at movie houses that carry independent films.
The film tells the story of Harvey Milk, the first openly gay person to be elected to public office. Milk not only represented the LGBT community in San Francisco, he fought for them, believed in them and organized them.
The film is set in the Castro neighborhood of San Francisco and tells how the neighborhood came about. The Castro neighborhood is San Francisco’s gay village and is concentrated in the business district on Castro Street from Market to 19th. It’s amazing to learn the history of the Castro and the struggle and activism that was born there. While most of us know the Castro for its countless bars, clubs, underwear stores and restaurants, most of us are unaware of the history that has preceded our Castro street shopping sprees, upscale café lunches and drunken post-club tirades.

The film, although an account of incidents that occurred over 30 years ago, strangely echoes the challenges and issues we are still facing today. The lessons learned from the accomplishments of Harvey Milk have still not been embodied by the new LGBT generation. Milk and the LGBT community were fighting against Proposition 6 back then, a proposal to terminate all openly gay and lesbian school teachers and their supporters. The Proposition was sponsored and promoted by religious organizations, claiming that homosexuality was a threat to school systems, children and the great society at large. Sound familiar?

Milk was successful in his political career because he not only organized the LGBT population in San Francisco but also reached out to other communities. He encouraged pride and activism in his community to demonstrate that homosexuals were not a group to be stepped on or overlooked and to show that LGBT were present in every neighborhood, occupation, race and walk of life imaginable.
It’s sad that the lessons learned from the past are still not embedded in the way we move forward as an LGBT community. Voter approvals of California’s Proposition 8 as well as other anti-gay legislation are a case in point. Milk encouraged gays and lesbians across the US to come out of the closet and proclaim their sexuality. He reasoned that if straight people personally knew a gay or lesbian, they would be less likely to vote against them. He also reached out to other communities such as women, seniors and minorities to show a demonstration of good will and looked to gain support for LGBT issues. The fight ag
ainst Proposition 8 was lost because of a lack of organization and a refusal to reach out to other communities, especially minority communities. In fact, Prop 8 backlash was directed at minority LGBT, African-Americans in particular.
Although it seems the lessons learned in the 1970’s have been lost, hopefully the release of the film, “Milk” will re-introduce the lessons learned thirty years ago to the new generation of activists. We are at a crossroads in the fight for our equality and our civil rights. Looking back to the successes and lessons of the past will help us advance forward and achieve equality in the future.

Vallarta Fever has become one of the biggest gay weekends in Mexico. Men come from all over the world to enjoy the amazing beaches, tropical weather and beautiful boys. Over the Thanksgiving weekend, your boy Cisco and the rest of the “A” Team were in attendance to entertain the crowd as the “eye candy” for the weekend.

Our nights were spent on the box at Club Manana and our days were spent lounging on the beach. Not a bad way to spend Thanksgiving. Check out the pics and exclusive video from Vallarta Fever weekend 2008.

If you’re anything like me, you have a soft spot for chocolate muscles. In fact, its my weakness. The most recent addition to the Cisco’s Boyz Models brings as much cocoa-flavored sweetness as you can handle. His name is Ayses and I’m sure you’ll agree, his physique is nothing short of mouth watering.
I met Ayses a few years ago while I was in Las Vegas. He is an intense, strong black man who is always down to show off his assets but can hold an intelligent conversation that stimulates both body and mind. In case you are wondering, yes Ayses and I did date at one point. We still remain good friends to this day.
At 32, this Papi is a successful business banker and a father. Not only does he look good, and talk a good game, he can most definitely back it up. But shhh, you didn’t hear it from me…..Ayses aspires to be a top fitness model and isn’t shy in front of the camera.
After seeing these pics, you might suddenly get a craving for anything long, hard and chocolate covered. All I can say is reach fo

Enjoy!

How Aerobic Exercise Relieves Stress
It's true that aerobic workouts are great stress beaters. Exercise helps relieve stress through several different physical mechanisms:
Fifteen minutes of any activity that works the major muscle groups - such as running, cycling, walking, swimming and stair-climbing - helps relax the muscles.
Exercise helps your body metabolize stress hormones more quickly.
Exercise releases endorphins, those naturally produced chemicals thought to relieve stress and promote a sense of well-being.

Happy Thanksgiving from Cisco
11/26/08
Thanksgiving is here and I am off to Puerto Vallarta. It sucks I have to leave my family on Thanksgiving Day, especially my little girl. Not being with your family during the holidays really reminds you of what is important. Although these aren’t the most prosperous times, I am thankful that everyone I love and cherish is alive and healthy.
I’m also thankful to each and every viewer that visits and supports the site. It’s a lot of work with very little financial reward but it is my passion and love. I am thankful for every viewer that takes away something valuable from YOCISCO.com, that is why it exists.
So on Thanksgiving, I’ll be on an airplane, headed to Mexico. I won’t be eating turkey or enjoying my loved ones but I will be giving thanks for another year. I have been blessed with a supportive and loving family that is always there no matter what and a base of fans/readers that have shown me nothing but love. That is more than enough to be thankful for.
So once again, Happy Thanksgiving to all the YOCISCO.com readers. Your support and encouragement mean the world to me.
CISCO
P.S.- I will be back on Tuesday and ready to launch the next YOCISCO.com Expose- "Rainbow Racism- A look at race relations in the LGBT Community." Watch for it!

The straight cut bangs, high-fashion costumes, catchy electro-pop dance tracks and crazy glow-in-the-dark glasses are unmistakably Lady Gaga. This past weekend, the Mile high city got a taste of this New York-born, soon to be superstar as she opened for New Kids on the Block in Denver. Your boy Cisco was there and got to take a trip back stage, courtesy of Quest who is traveling with Gaga’s entourage as one of a crew of dancers in the show.

We had the pleasure of meeting Lady Gaga and as expected, she was amazing. She was friendly and gracious to the handful of people that attended the meet and greet after her Denver performance. Still wearing her outlandish eyelashes and white patent leather tube top, she greeted us with a sweetness you don’t find in most dace floor divas. “Look at you sweetie!” were the first words out of her mouth when I walked in with my daughter, who was decked out from head to toe in a Gaga-inspired ensemble. As she signed autographs, she remarked to my lil girl- “you better work those boots!” She even had some valuable advice to share with my lil one who is aspiring to be successful in the entertainment industry. Meeting Gaga was an inspiration, especially to my daughter and I extend my thanks to Quest and Gaga for allowing us
to make the trip back stage.
Gaga’s show is nothing short of entertaining. She prances energetically from one side of the stage to the other and even joins her dancers in perfectly choreographed routines, all in six- inch heels and two-inch eye lashes. If that’s not a diva, I don’t know what is. Its no wonder Gaga’s show is so entertaining. She is an East Coast girl and worked as a go-go dancer in the club scene, displaying her over-the-top performances for trendy, New York City club goers. She brings that same energy and cutting edge creativeness to her stage show. Gaga hyped up the Denver concert goers as they broke into a roar the second “Just Dance” began to boom over the coliseum speakers. Gaga’s style is reminiscent of a 1980’s Cindy Lauper quirkiness with a Kylie Minogue glam-sophistication.
One important thing to note about Lady Gaga is that she is making her way to the top based on her own merit, hard work and uniqueness. She was not born into a privileged family, she had no prior connections in the entertainment industry and she is not a manufactured product, plucked from a reality TV show. She is real and raw which is refreshing in a time when perfectly-packaged robots saturate the entertainment industry. In this day and age, people are ready for someone like Lady Gaga to bring something new and refreshing back to the music industry. Maybe its her 1980’s pop style that reminds us of a more innocent time before a world economic crisis or maybe, during this uncertain time in our country’s history we just needed someone to tell us “just dance, gonna be ok.” Keep spinning that record, Gaga, we’ll keep dancing.
In case you are wondering how to catch Lady Gaga she will continue her tour with New Kids on the Block until 2009. Next year, she will be opening for the Pussy Cat Dolls on a 100 city tour through Europe. Click here to visit her Myspace page for a list of upcoming shows. You can also visit LadyGaga.com for bio, pics and all things Gaga.

Halloween in Vallarta- Recap
Halloween in Puerto Vallarta was a blast. The beautiful weather and the equally beautiful boys made for a Halloween haunt I’ll never forget. I’m usually in Denver this time of year, handing out candy, propping up zombies in the grave yard and praying that it doesn’t snow. Yes, we often get snow in Denver on Halloween. Puerto Vallarta was definitely a change of scenery.
One of the most interesting parts of the trip was seeing how the Mexican people embrace the American tradition of Halloween. When the hot, tropical sun began to set on the horizon, the children of Puerto Vallarta emerged in their colorful costumes, taking to the narrow, cobble stone streets in search of candy. The tourists and local businesses were ready for the evening of “trick or treats” with bags of candy to hand o
ut to the little ones. Even the Club Papi boys picked up some goodies to hand out to the kids. I have to admit, I did miss being at home to take my own daughter trick or treating but the experience of being in Puerto Vallarta this time of year was one I won’t soon forget.
The local elementary school displayed a large ofrenda (altar) in the plaza courtyard in honor of Dia de los Muertos. Skeletons, Marigolds, candles and photos of deceased loved ones were displayed all weekend, reminding us of the pre-Columbian tradition that is still celebrated in southern Mexico.
On the more devilish side, Club Mañana was packed with Halloween revelers dressed in elaborate costumes that would rival anything you would see in West Hollywood on October 31st. Devils, demons, murderers and ghouls partied till dawn as the DJ spun the hottest dance mixes to hit this Mexican costal getaway.
All in all, Halloween in Vallarta is an event that is quickly growing and one I would definitely suggest checking out. Puerto Vallarta’s laid back attitude and gay friendly establishments make it sort of a Mexican gay Mecca. In case you missed Halloween in Vallarta, we will be back in PV at the end of this month with Club Papi for Vallarta Fever. It runs November 27-30 and is one of the biggest gay events in Vallarta (aside from Easter weekend). So if you haven’t booked your flight yet, do it soon. I know we are in the middle of a recession but what better way to get away from the American turmoil than a relaxing, sexy weekend with scantily clad boys on the shores of Puerto Vallarta- this will definitely be a Thanksgiving to remember.

As we celebrate Obama’s election as the 44th president of the United States, the gay community has lost a major battle for our basic civil rights. Marriage. No doubt that Obama’s presidency will help to further acceptance of our lifestyle and bring gay life into mainstream America but what do we do now that Prop 8 has passed and gay marriage is now illegal in the state of California. Other devastating losses for our community include the Arkansas ballot that bans gay couples from adopting children. Also, in Florida and Arizona, all proposals to allow gay couples to marry were shot down, leaving the gay rights movement facing a tall brick wall.
No doubt that the gay civil rights movement has come a long way. Until 1974, same-sex intimacy was a crime in California as in many other states. Today, however, we are still facing the same bigotry, fueled by the religious right wing community. Many believe that allowing same sex couples to marry would destroy the sanctity of marriage. What many do not understand is that gay marriage would allow same sex couples to marry under the eyes of the law, not the church. We are not asking churches and other religious institutions to change their beliefs or their doctrines. We are asking the LAW to give us equal rights as every other American citizen and allow same sex couples to enjoy all the benefits straight couples enjoy under the umbrella of marriage. What happened to the separation of church and state?
Many have talked about allowing same sex couple to marry under “civil unions” instead of marriage. This is the same approach we took with segregation of the
African-American community. That obviously didn’t work- SEPRATE IS NOT EQUAL! Why should we as upstanding, tax paying, American citizens settle for less? Gay people exist in every profession, every walk of life, every ethnicity, every neighborhood and every church in this country. We are America and for us to settle for a “civil union” is unfair, un-constitutional and un-American.
Sadly, the statistics show that 70% of Black voters in California voted in favor of Proposition 8. The argument has been made that the gay community should not compare our
movement to that of the Black civil rights movement of the 1960’s. Why? Because, according to some, being Black is not a choice and being gay is. If only they knew. Only until people realize that being gay is not any more of a choice than your skin color, will they be more apt to give us our right of marriage. The blame cannot be placed on the Black community alone. Whites and Latinos were largely divided on the issue- half voting for Prop 8 and half against Prop 8. Minority communities must wake up and realize that many in their own communities are gay although it may not always be apparent. The mainstream gay community also needs to wake up and further efforts to reach out and include gay Black and Latino communities. Only when we all stand together will we be able to achieve our basic civil rights.
As gay/lesbian/transgender, we should be thoroughly outraged that ignorance, hate and bigotry won the battle in this year’s election as it pertains to gay marriage. Obama’s victory is definitely one to celebrate and a big win for the gay community. Obama never failed to mention gays and lesbians throughout his entire campaign and that in itself is a milestone. Of course, he never came out and said he was for gay marriage- that would have cost him the election. Let’s just hope that Obama’s pro-gay sentiment is permeated through out this country in the next four years. Although we have lost the battle, there is still a war to be won.

I hope you brought a fork and an appetite for Latino flesh. Welcome to Fall 08, hope you enjoy the photos.

StrengthTraining without Weights
There may be weeks when you just can't get to a gym. You may be on vacation or traveling on business, for instance.
At times like this, you can fall back on resistance exercises that don't require weights. These exercises are effective enough to maintain the results you've already achieved until you can get back to the gym's weight room. Here are four classic exercises you can do without weights:
1. PUSH-UPS: For shoulders, chest and triceps
2. ABDOMINAL CRUNCHES
3. SQUATS: For hips, thighs, buttocks
4. TOE RAISES: For the calf muscles

OBAMA WINS!
"The dawn of a new American leadership has begun."
Those were the words spoken by the next president of the United States of America as Barack Obama
addressed a sea of supporters in Chicago, acknowledging his victory over John McCain. It was a long and stressful campaign, one that will not soon be forgotten. At the end of the day, the American people have spoken and they have chosen our 44th president, a democrat, a black man, a father, a charismatic leader, a friend of the gay community and the person who will lead our country out of the deep hole we have fallen into.
The faces in that Chicago crowd reflected what people were feeling all over the nation- hope, change and a renewed faith in our country. With hope in our eyes and tears running down our cheeks we move forward into a new era in our country’s history. We have made our voices heard- the young people who came out in unprecedented numbers, the Black and Latino vote who made a difference when it seemed like our voices were silenced and lastly, the gay voters who supported the candidate who was not afraid to stand on our side and never forget us in his agenda. Hell most of us fit in all three of those categories- young, black/Latino and gay. What a tremendous victory for this country and for us as gay Americans.
Being in real estate the last six years, I have been at the core of the melt down of the American economy- the housing market. I have seen things go from good to bad to worse to unbearable. I have felt the pinch of the economic disaster as have many of the people I love. At times, things have felt so dismal that I’ve wondered if things will ever get better. But that’s what Barack Obama does best is inspire. Tonight, I felt a renewed sense of pride and hope that things will get better for all of us with Barack Obama as our president. Like he said, things will not get better overnight and there are many sacrifices to be made. Although things may get worse before they get better, we can move forward, trusting we elected the best person for the job of leading this country out of the turmoil we are facing and inspire all of us to have an open mind, a willing spirit and and optimistic outlook.
This is a victory for all of us and a time to be proud of being an American.

Rebound after Falling Off the Diet Wagon
Too many of us expect absolute perfection when we embark on a new fitness or weight-loss program. Perhaps the more logical approach is to acknowledge that we probably will fall short of the ideal at some point - and to have tactics in place for getting back on track.
For example, if you've over-indulged in food over the weekend, you might regain dietary balance during the week with strategies like these:
1. Eat only fruits and raw vegetables for between-meal snacks.
2. If you eat dessert after lunch or dinner, make fruit that dessert. If you need to make it interesting, use a low-fat yogurt dip or make a baked-fruit dessert with apples or pears.
3. Be sure to drink your 8 glasses of water (more if you're exercising that day). Water may help you feel less hungry.
4. DON'T skip meals as a way of compensating for a weekend's calorie overload. If you eat too little, your metabolism will slow down.

Happy Halloween- Have Fun, Be Safe!

The ghouls and goblins will take to the streets this weekend in what promises to be one of the hottest Halloweens in years. Why? The devilish holiday falls on a Friday this year which means from Friday till Sunday, more than likely you will be partying it up in your hottest costume, bobbing for someone’s apples and putting the jack in jack-o-lantern. Why not? Halloween only falls on a weekend once every five years or so. Take advantage of the holiday, have fun but be safe.
Two friend
s of mine told me about an upscale costume party they went to last weekend in the Hollywood hills. Dressed in nothing but boxer briefs and animal ears, they proceeded to party it up amongst the decked out party goers. Eventually they began to feel funny and decided to leave the party. They attempted to exit but didn’t get halfway across the front lawn until they blacked out.
By the next morning, one was in the hospital and neither of them could figure out what hit them. They had been drugged.
This can happen easily to any one of us. It is important to be aware of your surroundings and especially what you are pouring down your throat. Follow these simple rules for a fun and safe halloween:
1. Never under any circumstances to accept any opened drink, particularly from a stranger.
2. If you are drinking, drink only bottled drinks, and insist that you open them yourself.
3. Don't leave your drink unattended and don't let it out of your sight.
4. Don't share drinks with anyone, even a good friend.
5. Never ask someone to watch your drink for you, they might simply be distracted, or might not be as trustworthy as you think.
6. If your drink has been left unattended, don't continue drinking it, discard it.
7. Drinking mixed-drinks from a wide-mouthed glass is asking for trouble.
8. Avoid punch from a large mixed bowl, it is impossible to determine the contents.
9. If a drink has a strange taste, like being salty, or has a strange appearance like being too frothy or a residue don't drink it, throw it away. Keep in mind that many date rape drugs have no smell, taste or color.
10. Always make sure you are in the company of a trusted friend who can help you to safety should you find yourself passing out from a spiked drink.
11. Be aware of the people around you and their behavior. If someone shows signs of being unusually drunk than they would normally be after a certain amount of alcohol they may be in danger.
Proposition 8- I know many YOCISCO.com readers are in California. I urge everyone to vote this election year, especially registered California voters. Vote "NO" on Proposition 8. It will ban gay marriage in California for good. This would be a major set back for the victories we have won towards our equality as gay people. Make our voice heard, vote NO on Prop 8!

Quest Tours with Lady GaGa
My boy Quest or Michael as some of you may know him from Bravo's Step it up and Dance is now touring with dance diva, Lady GaGa. Quest began touring this month and is set to be traveling around the country with Lady GaGa and her entrourage as they open for New Kids on the Block. In 2009, Lady GaGa will be opening for the Pussy Cat Dolls which will take our boy Quest to Europe for the first few month of next year. Many of you know Quest as the sexy dancer at Club Papi. Now he adds Lady GaGa to his long list of performers he has danced for including Mary J. Blige, Kelly Rowland, Hillary Duff - just to name a few. Hopefully Quest will keep us up to date as he tours with Lady GaGa. Stay tuned for more on this story.

Folsom Street Fair Weekend 2008
The last few blogs have covered some serious topics- Praying your gay away and Dating and HIV. With the current state of the US economy, the crazy election and hard times ahead, I thought I’d lighten things up a bit with a re-cap from the Folsom Street Fair.
The Folsom Street Fair celebrated its 25th year and attracts over 400,000 people. It is California’s third largest spectator event and surprisingly, is endorsed by the city of San Francisco. It is held the last Sunday in September and closes out Leather Pride week. I’m not a big leather fan but the fair attracts all types of people into any and every fetish imaginable. Gay and straight alike take to Folsom Street between 7th and 12th, letting their freak flags fly and raising over $250,000 yearly for qualified charities. Club Papi held their “Latinos in Leather” party in conjunction with the Folsom event, which is why your boy Cisco was in San Francisco.
It was my first time attending the Folsom event and the stories I heard were true. Every fetish was represented at the fair. Some participants came in full S&M gear, some came wearing nothing at all- well except shoes. As hesitant as I was about going, I actually had a great time. Ok, so I didn’t wear any leather or chains, just black jeans with a black tank top that eventually came off when I had a few drinks (just the shirt not the jeans). It was liberating and best of all, I discovered what my own little fetish is- guys in cop uniforms.

The topic of dating someone with HIV is highly divided within our community. It seems there are still a great amount of us that would not date a person who is HIV positive, provided we are HIV negative. Here are the results:
Question: Assuming you are HIV negative, would you date someone who is HIV Positive?
Results:
32%
24%
44%
Dating someone who is HIV positive can be a difficult thing but if you arm yourself with knowledge and protection, you can still have a normal relationship. I urge everyone to have compassion for those that are infected. Remember it can just as easily be one of us who is infected. HIV originated in our community and it is up to us to set an example for everyone else until there is a cure. Click Here for Cisco's Blog on Dating and HIV.

Motivation: Give an Exercise Plan at Least 2 Months
Do you find yourself continually starting exercise programs only to quit just weeks later? If so, you could be asking too much of yourself in terms of motivation.
Studies show that most people need to stick with a plan for 30 to 60 days before their commitment to exercise takes hold. Unfortunately, many of us give up sooner, discouraged if we don't approach each workout with zeal.
Perhaps one answer is to look at motivation as another "muscle." Just as biceps, abs and glutes gradually strengthen as they are exercised over time, so does motivation grow stronger with practice.
Also critical: Choose workouts you like. (It's extra hard to motivate yourself do to exercise you don't enjoy.)

Dating and HIV
I wrote this not to educate people on the topic of HIV, but to reflect on the way we see and treat people who are living with HIV.
“I’ve got something to tell you” he said to me as his smooth beautiful chocolate face looked away from me. I could see tears in the corners of his eyes. His strong hands clenched and his thick biceps twitched under his tight fitting T-shirt. At that moment I knew what he was about to tell me. I don’t know I could just feel it in my chest. Everything seemed to slow down around me and for a minute, everything stopped. I knew what his next three words would be: “I’m HIV positive.” My heart sank in my chest and my vision blurred from the tears welling up in my eyes. I didn’t know what to say. I had never heard anyone I was dating tell me they were HIV positive. So many thoughts went through my head at that moment- “How could such a beautiful man be infected with such a horrible disease? How long does he have to live? How did he get it? No wonder why he kept avoiding sex with me.”
With all these thoughts going through my head I couldn’t get one word out my mouth. All I could do is put my arms around his massive shoulders and cry on his D&G T-shirt. We sat there for what seemed like an hour as he comforted me. I felt like I had already lost him to the virus yet he was sitting there alive and well, comforting me, trying to make me understand his situation and the circumstances under which he contracted the disease. He told me he was extremely healthy and not on any medications as of now. He explained to me that he keeps himself in immaculate physical condition, which was apparent by his amazingly chiseled physique. He told me he contracted it six years ago from his ex who was sleeping around behind his back. As he explained, I felt like he was dying right in front of me like a strong thick tree would wither without water or sunlight.
"So many questions in my head,'How could this happen to such a good person?' 'How could I continue to date this guy?"
As I pulled myself together I prepared to face the endless sea of family members celebrating my birthday just outside the bedroom doors. I walked out as if nothing had happened and put a smile on so as to not arouse any suspicion from my mom who happily placed the candles on my 26th birthday cake. As the day stretched on, I continued to keep on my “happy face” and act like nothing was wrong. So many questions in my head- “How could such a beautiful person be ruined like this. How could this happen to such a good person? How
could I continue to date this guy?” I’m a modern gay man. I consider myself educated on the topic of HIV. In college I took a course and even got certified to teach HIV prevention to Latinos. None of this could prepare me for what Anthony had just told me. HIV was always something the “other” person had. I even had friends that contracted the disease, people I cared very much for, but never anyone I was romantically involved and saw a future with.
Anthony and I had been dating for the last month or so, talking on the phone quite a bit and enjoying the budding of a potential relationship. I think it was his gleaming white smile that got me along with his kind heart. He would look at me with stars in his eyes and make me feel like the only one. When he kissed me it was with passion and adoration. I could feel that radiating between our bodies, even with our clothes on. It felt almost too good to be true. I guess that’s why I expected him to say what he did when he took me into the bedroom that hot summer afternoon to tell me he was Positive.
As I look back now, I am thankful Anthony was honest with me and cared enough about me to tell me his status before we had sex. Although we would have used a condom regardless, he cared enough about me to let me know his status and leave the decision up to me weather I wanted to still have sex with him or not. We did have sex, good sex, protected of course and continued to date for about a year.
During that time, I learned so much from him. At first it was hard. When I looked at him, his HIV status was the first thing that popped into my head. When I would hear his voice on my cell phone his status was the first thing I’d think of. Over time, however, his amazing personality replaced the initial fear I had. In time, when I saw him or heard from him, I wouldn’t think of HIV but of his pretty smile. His radiant personality and positive spirit reassured me that he wasn’t going to die tomorrow and that contracting HIV isn’t an automatic death sentence. He also taught me that two people of different HIV status can date and have an intimate relationship with one another. Things didn’t work out between the two of us but it wasn’t because of his HIV status. To this day my HIV status is still negative because we protected ourselves and used a condom. In the end, I’m glad I didn’t freak out and break the whole relationship off. I would have missed out on an incredible person.

YOCISCO.com Quick Fitness Tip- Exercise for Healthier Skin
When you work out, the blood flow to your skin increases as your body expels the extra heat your muscles generate. This increased blood flow brings nutrients to your skin, gets rid of wastes, and gives you that radiant "glow".
A study suggests that regular exercise can also give you thicker skin - a seemingly dubious benefit, until you consider that thicker skin tends to wrinkle later and generally age more gracefully than thinner skin.

Can you Pray your gay away?
Can you pray your gay away? It sounds like a ridiculous idea, especially for those of us who have been through the hell of coming out and the confusion and shame of growing up gay. Some people still seem to think homosexuals can be reformed through prayer and somehow magically transformed into heterosexual. A recent article from the Associated Press reported that Sarah Palin’s church is promoting an “ex-gay” conference to its congregation, brought to Anchorage by the ultra conservative think tank, Focus on the Family. Weather Sarah actually believes in the “pray the gay away” movement has yet to be seen.
I can’t speak for everyone, only for myself, but praying does not make homosexuality go away. Don’t get me wrong, I gave it an honest shot. From a very young age, I knew I was different. When puberty set in, I was positive I was different. Prayer was one way I thought I could make it go away, hoping that one day, I would wake up and be straight. “Nothing is too great for God,” I thought.
Besides just praying about it, I lived it. I dated girls, as most gay men have, and became sexually active at 16. I thought that my love for women would grow if I kept my secret under wraps and concentrated on being straight. I thought that if I only prayed enough that I would no longer be burdened with the curse of being gay. I thought wrong. The gay wouldn’t go away. The desire to be with men only grew stronger. When I finally gave in, the sex felt so right but the guilt felt so wrong.
After countless nights of prayer I eventually came to the realization that the gay wasn’t going to go away. I reflected back on my life growing up and came to the conclusion that I was made this way. That’s right, God made me this way for whatever reason and it was up to me to accept it and be free or reject it and be miserable. I believe God makes each of us perfect in his image. He made us exactly how he wanted us. Who was I to tell him he made a mistake?
"After countless nights of prayer I eventually came to the realization that the gay wasn’t going to go away. I reflected back on my life growing up and came to the conclusion that I was made this way."
Luckily, my heterosexual escapades blessed me with a beautiful daughter for which I am forever grateful. In the process, however, I lived a lie and hurt my daughter’s mother immensely. I hurt her to the point that she can never trust men again and still to this day swears that she will never let a man hurt her like I did. She is grateful that I let her go so she could find a man that could love her in a way I couldn’t.
Ultimately, being gay is not a choice. You cannot pray your gay away any more than you can pray your racial background away. I guess it’s difficult for some people to understand, especially those that cling to religion as a way of remaining ignorant and close minded. Fact of the matter is homosexuality has been around since human beings have been around and I don’t think it’ll be disappearing anytime soon. We can accept it, move past it and get to more important things or we can continue to waste energy on ridiculous notions that somehow homosexuality can be prayed out of existence. Every night I asked God to answer my prayers and he did. He gave me the courage and strength to be the person he intended me to be, proving that what I initially believed was true, “Nothing is too great for God.”
Below is a poem I wrote during my coming out process:
My spirit, brown and proud.
Yet this curse hovers over me,
Just like a dark rain cloud.
Here I stand a proud Chicano
“Viva La Raza” I stand and shout,
Pero mi Virgencita, what will she say
When she knows what I’m about?
This curse remains inside me
I wake up every day
I cry, I pray, I beg and plead,
Please God, don’t make me gay.
I light a candle every night,
And wake up every day
Hoping to start living right,
To no longer wake up gay.
Ill end it all, so no one knows
This curse will never lift!
Then a voice whispers in my ear,
Your curse is but a gift.
Born this way I bestowed on you
Accept it, I know you can,
To yourself, always be true,
You are no less of a man.
Take this gift it’s who you are,
A wisdom it will show,
Gatekeeper to an ancient world
A beautiful gay Chicano.
So dry your eyes, I’m on your side,
I made you with my hands,
No longer will you have to lie,
A brown and proud gay man.

YOCISCO.com Quick Fitness Tip- Your Metabolism
Your resting metabolism - the rate at which your body burns calories throughout the day - is a major factor in how well you lose or maintain weight. True, there are some aspects of metabolism that are beyond your control. But contrary to popular perception, you need not be stuck with slow metabolism, since there are many things you can do to increase it.
WHAT YOU CAN'T CHANGE: These factors influence metabolism, and there's little we can do about it:
GENES: Chances are your parents or their parents had metabolisms similar to yours.
GENDER: In general, men have higher metabolisms than women.
AGE: Metabolism tends to become a bit slower with age.
WHAT YOU CAN CHANGE: These habits can increase your metabolism:
EATING BREAKFAST. Eating soon after you arise in the morning gets your metabolism going. If you skip breakfast, you miss out on several hours of higher calorie-burning. In fact, research studies suggest that people who eat breakfast are better able to manage their weight.
BECOMING MORE ACTIVE IN YOUR EVERYDAY LIFE. Even if you have a sedentary job, you can introduce small bursts of activity into your routine-taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walking instead of driving-that burn extra calories. BUILDING LEAN MUSCLE THROUGH EXERCISE. Muscle tissue burns calories at a faster rate than fat does. By strength training (working out with weights) regularly, you can increase your body's amount of muscle and increase your metabolism.
